About

Supremely architectural biennal or triannual with a large rosette of hairy leaves. It forms a trunk for its first two years before erupting into a spike of thousands of tiny pink flowers which can reach upto 5m in height. This species is a cross between pinninana and wilpretti.

Planting and care

Best planted in full sun and well drained soil. To get the best out of this plant you have to risk it in the garden, it has a tap root to hold up the large flower stem that you won't get in a pot. You can cover with fleece for very short periods throughout the winter, but always uncover as soon as possible.
