Hedychium griffithianum is a small species with slender stems that tend to arch with the weight of leaves that are narrow and green in colour. In it native habitat of the high altitude Himalayas it tends to grow horizontally or downwards from stream banks. The flowers are white and very delicate looking giving a spidery look in contrast the stamons are pale red. A good garden ginger growing to 1m in height and hardy to -10 or more if mulched.

Planting and care
Best planted in full sun or light shade in moist humus rich soil all will respond well to feeding through out the growing season. Plant deep and give a good mulch for winter protection this will do for most winters you can lift part of the corm and store frost free and dry as an insurance.
