Melianthus major is one of the best foliage plants you can grow, it is supremely architectural with glaucous grey-blue leaves that are deeply cut and have a toothed edge. It looks great first thing in the morning covered in dew. Melianthus has an amazing smell, if you rub the leaves or spray them with water on a hot summers day you will smell peanut butter! The flowers of melianthus are redish brown spikes, but its the foliage you grow it for.

Planting and care
Best planted in full sun and rich soil. Mulch in winter, but plant deep (3-4 inches deeper than the height of the soil in a pot). Likely to be hardy if planted this way.
