About

Plectranthus ciliates is a handsome, lavish evergreen shrub from South Africa with green leaves that have a purple underside with scalloped edges and also covered in small hairs. Arising above these in summer are candlelarbras of small lilac-blue flowers. Height reaches 60cm, and it is not hardy, however it makes a great pot plant or bedding plant for the summer.

Planting and care

Best in full sun or light shade. Prefers semi rich soil, not hardy so must be frost free over winter.
