What you get
You will receive a 2ltr pot.
Fargesia nitida 'Great Wall' is a very refined plant with a vertical, tidy habit. It has dark purple culms and grey-green slim leaves. A very versatile plant and can be used as a screen, windbreak, lawn specimen or as a pot plant. It is a clumping bamboo that can reach 3-4m in height, and can spread upto 1m over 10 years.
Planting and Care
Position in semi shade. Plant with the addition of some organic matter and water in well. Do not let the plant dry out in the first six months, and after this if it's in the ground it should look after itself. Pots of bamboo will continue to need watering. The best food a bamboo can have is its own dead leaves and culm sheaths so leave them to mulch the base of the plant.
Nitida is best grown in semi shade, but will happily grow in a sunny site.
Any reasonable soil is ok, add organic matter to help the bamboo establish.
As nitida is a clump forming bamboo it is suited to growing in a pot. Use a good loam-based compost, don't let it dry out and feed regularly.
Height and Spread
This Bamboo can reach 12ft/4m in height. It is clump forming and should spread about 1m in ten years.
