It is a very fast growing tree with large bright green leaves that are covered in fine hairs and in spring it has lilac/blue flowers that look like foxgloves. This tree comes into its own in the exotic garden, if pollarded in spring it will grow dinner plate sized leaves, although you will not get flowers.
