About
Hedychium yunnanense is the hardiest of the Hedychium. Like densiflorum it is short, only growing 1m tall. It has glossy, narrow, green foliage and has highly scented white and yellow flowers with a red middle that are produced sparsely on the stem it is one of the first Hedychium to flower. Not the most flamboyant of gingers, but a good hardy invaluable ginger for the colder garden.

Planting and care
Best planted in light shade in moist, humus rich soil. It will respond well to feeding throughout the growing season. Plant deep and give a good mulch for winter protection, or to guarantee full protection you can lift part of the corm and store it frost free during winter.
